Amazing Potential!

I've tried many AI legal document apps, some costing hundreds of dollars per month, and Airstrip blows them all away. The quality of the documents it creates is unsurpassed in the industry. I'm astonished at level of detail and legal analysis it applies when drafting documents. For example, I created what I thought would be a simple software license agreement for a healthcare app. I assumed Airstrip would apply some kind of software licensing template to generate a basic document, which I could then take to my lawyer to customize further for our industry. Instead, it asked me a series of very detailed industry-specific questions on topics that I hadn't even considered, like HIPAA considerations, provider liability issues, etc... I provided some basic answers to the questions, but the AI was like "No, your answers are too simplistic. I need more detailed answers to ensure that the document is legally binding and includes adequate protections." It wanted answers on specific policies and procedures that we follow to ensure HIPAA compliance, what happens in the event of a failure, etc... I was shocked by the level of detail and I doubt that most attorneys would have even considered some of these issues. At one point, I became frustrated by the questions and said something like "Can't you just draft this language for me?" To my surprise, it did! It actually created policies on-the-fly which we can now implement to ensure that our procedures are properly aligned with what's stated in the document, with no ambiguity.

So why only three stars?

Well, despite all this power, the app is incredibly buggy. Frequently, it suggest some brilliant change, which I approve and then it claims to be adding the language to the document, but when I review the updated document, the very language that it drafted isn't there. Sometimes I have to prompt it three or four times before the language finally shows up. So frustrating! It also fails with very basic details like fonts. For instance, I asked it to apply roman numerals to all the main headings, which it did. But it used different fonts for some of the headings, which looks ugly and inconsistent. So I told it make all the main heading fonts the same. It acknowledged my request and stated that it would update the fonts to make them all the same, but in the revised document, the fonts were still inconsistent. Another similar example was that the document had headings for boilerplate sections like Severability, Entire Agreement, Waiver, etc...but there was no content for those sections. So I told it to add the boilerplate content for those sections and it said it was going to do it, but again, the revised document was still missing the content. After several more attempts, it finally did it. Another issue is that the signature section is a mess. It adds the necessary content, but the formatting is awful. As another reviewer mentioned, it's not suitable for creating a digital document and would have to be edited manually. I'm also having a hard time understanding how to add a created document to the library. There's a Saved Documents section, but it named my document "Draft" and I don't see any way to finalize the document and rename it. I can download it, but there seems to be no way to move it out of draft status and add it to a library. Another issue is that the revisions system is buggy and seems incomplete. It's nice that it keeps a history of all your changes and you can view a prior version, but there's no option to make the prior version the current working version. So you can look at what you did, but you can't really revert to a prior version. I could go on and on. There are a million other weird issues like this that make the app almost unusable. In its current state, it's fantastic for drafting documents, but terrible at formatting and managing documents. When it creates lists, there's no hanging indent, so in the sub-sections, it indents the first line of text, but the text isn't indented in subsequent lines which looks unprofessional. It also needs a settings screen where you can configure how you want your documents to look in terms of numbering style, fonts, etc... I shouldn't have to tell it to number the main sections. This is standard in any legal document. Another issue is that after you've made a bunch of revisions, it seems to get tired and stops updating the document completely. If I let it "rest" for like an hour, then come back to it and tell it to apply the changes, it finally does it.

I sincerely hope the developer is able to fix these issues, because the product has unbelievable potential.
