I'm a lover of SaaS tools that digitally optimize personal life and work. After testing ByDesign for about a week, I fell in love with its ability to be my daily organizer.
Here's a list of some tools I've either extensively used or tested over the years: Asana, Trello, Basecamp, Slack, Microsoft Teams, Notion, and many AppSumo apps including Blue, Upbase, Work Zappy, Worklenz, Edworking, and more.
My use case for ByDesign is simple: to create a reminder system for daily habits that seamlessly integrates with my Google Calendars for both personal and work. ByDesign has a simple yet effective habit tracker, and its integration with Google notifications has helped me stay on top of key habits for health, wealth, and spiritual development.
To keep things simple, here are the pros and cons:
Pros:
- Fantastic integration with leading calendars like Google and Apple - Simple yet effective habit tracking with reminders - Great overview of habits and tasks alongside calendar and recent pages - Pages operate like Notion, allowing you to embed, create lists, tables, etc. - Clean UI and relatively simple UX - Apps for iOS and Android - Gamification of habits via leaderboards and stats overview - The Hub section offers pre-made page templates for various use cases
Cons (areas for improvement):
- No CNAME/personal branding feature (would be nice to add personalization) - License appears to be for one user (fine for my use as a personal organizer/digital journal) - Overview page could use more options for customization and rearrangement - Today’s habits on the overview require dragging to reorder; it would be nice to sort habits by time automatically since I have morning and evening routines - AI Goals function is currently in beta; my requests are on a waitlist, so I’m unsure about next steps - UI could benefit from more options like themes and customization to make it truly your own - I'm a big fan of the Kanban system for task management; it would be great to have this option - Would be nice to have separate tags list for different categories, not a single list of tags - Each habit appears to just be a checklist. It would be nice to have a hover option that links to a clickable page, for example a journalling habit to then hover to click on journal page.
I could go on, but overall it’s a great app in its current state. Looking forward to updates—best of luck to the ByDesign team! ☮️🌎🌍🌏❤️
