Commenting as a heavy Tableau user and a consultant: think about Columns AI not as a Tableau or BI replacement, but rather a convenient and beautiful way to tell and share stories by numbers. The two things I loved about Columns: 1. easy to share with audiences via links, 2. ability to restrict embeds to specific domains for those who share via webpublishing. While some charting options may not be available, Columns AI options would cover many ways to tell stories and the process may be easier for those who are not doing visualizations professionally.
