Needs more baking

Well... what a wonderful find. All basic functionality is there... and Alyana from support doesn't know everything but she just keeps going and getting the answers and -if possible- solutions. Team is willing to change/improve and responsive.

And that's where the good news ends.

1. Customer pages are slow and sometimes bug-out or plain & simple give up until refreshed (Error 503 from Cloudfront seen a lot)
2. The 3m limit went down to 300k - that if reached is really not clear what the charge would be to "solve"
3. The crawler is dead slow and we don't know it's name to allow/deny with robots.txt (upcoming feature I was told)
4. Gold Google certification will be done after deal is non-refundable (hmmm... with no "got your back guarantee" either)
5. There's no way to add custom cookies in advance (for example I just know I will have youtube's one but I can't add it now... I have to wait for a crawl (monthly or manual) and then categorize it... IF the crawler sees it (somehow it hasn't even though I added an embedded video)
6. Setting for when to display the popup is Worldwide or EU/Canada/US but it's based on... browser locality (needs to be geolocation for sure as many people do a default install of a browser that is on en-US). (Improvement promised from support)
7. No clear instructions on how to handle zones in GTM with different browser defaults (what localities need what and where to put on GTM template?)
8. No ability to "pool" 2-3 site limits into 1 site (this is NEEDED)

etc etc...

Look, this is NOT a bad review. Really. I just listed everything I talked about with support and what I experience as a T4 client. Team is responsive and they want to improve as far as I can tell, that's clear enough. My only worry is if this just a 250+ bucks from me on a promise...

I'll gladly come here in a month or 2 or 3 and make this a 5 taco review if some stuff like site speed improves and the Google Gold certification is done. I have high hopes for CookiePal and it's team - as long as they have our backs for many years to come...

Thanks a lot for taking the time to write such a thoughtful and well-balanced review. It’s clear you're invested in seeing Cookiepal succeed, and we truly appreciate that kind of support. Also love the shoutout to Alyana. She’s incredibly dedicated and it shows.

Let me address a few of your points directly:

1. Page speed and 503s
We’re actively working to improve performance and stability. It’s something we take seriously and are already addressing on the infrastructure side.

2. 3M vs 300K pageviews
To clarify, we’ve always communicated to AppSumo that the pageview limit is 300,000 per domain, which aligns with our Pro plan. The 3 million figure was mistakenly displayed when the deal went live and unfortunately wasn’t corrected in time.

3. Crawler issues
You're right that the scan speed can be improved, and we understand the need for transparency on the crawler’s user-agent for better robots.txt control. It’s on our radar, but we don’t want to make promises until we’re confident in delivery.

4. Google Gold Certification
We don’t have any control over Google's decision to grant Gold partner status. What we are doing is implementing the latest IAB standards (ICF v2.2), which positions us well. Regardless of badge color, it doesn’t affect the performance or compliance of our banner.

5. Manual cookie addition
This is valuable feedback. Whether or not it makes it to the roadmap, your input helps shape how we think about improving the product for edge cases like this.

6. Popup logic
We agree that browser language isn’t the best method and are exploring options to improve detection. That said, we won’t commit to a rollout timeline until we know what’s technically and financially sustainable.

7. GTM support

8. Domain pooling
We’ve heard this request from other agency users too. At this point, it's not something we can support within the AppSumo deal structure, but we're keeping an open mind for future agency-facing features or plans.

We’re not here to make short-term promises. We’re here to build something long-term. We know we have one of the best solutions in the industry, and we’re committed to improving it in a way that works not just for users, but for the future of the platform itself.
