Q: Screen captures

We have a colleague whose screen captures are not being reflected despite the timer still running and showing “At Work.” It also shows “Idle Screen” instead of Online. The rest have their timesheets “At Work” and have corresponding screenshots. Can this be explained? How can we fix this or is this indicative f Idle time? If so, why is it showing “At Work”?

A: Please note that Desklog captures screenshots only when the user is actively working at their system - that is, when there is consistent mouse or keyboard activity. This active duration is recorded as Focus Time and is represented in green on the timeline.

However, the “At Work” status or Time at Work includes both Focus Time and Idle Time. So even if the timer shows “At Work,” it may also include periods where the user is inactive.

In your colleague’s case, the screenshots are showing “Idle Screen” because the user may be away from the system or not interacting with it. During such idle periods:

1. No active movement = No screenshots captured as active.

2. Timeline shows yellow segments indicating Idle Time.

3. Thumbnail previews in screenshots are marked as Idle.

Desklog is accurately reporting that the user is still logged in and tracked, but not actively engaging with the system.
