Broken. Will be asking for a refund if not resolved soon.

It looks slick, yeah. But it doesn't really work, and it's filled with bugs and inconsistencies.

First, I asked the devs if it would match my use-case. I don't want to create a podcast or music tracks. What intrigued me here was the video uploads of 50GB/mo. I wanted to upload videos then share them with the embedding feature on my site for my clients.

I tried uploading a small sample video (30 secs, in mp4 format), and the video doesn't play. There is no video to be seen at all. Disctopia sees it as an audio track (which is odd, because the video had no sound). That's the biggest issue, and for that reason alone, I will need to return it.

Then there are the other weird issues.

When entering your address details, the fields for City and State literally don't work. They're there, but you can't fill them out. You can give them your Street Address and Apartment number, but they clearly don't care what city and state you're in (okay, fine, I don't want to give them that info anyway).

Then there are these bizarre required file sizes for profile images. I figured, "they want a nice clear image, no biggie"--- NO. It's everywhere. Your image isn't a perfect square? BEGONE. Pixels aren't 1400x1400? NOPE. Disctopia will have to spending more time editing thumbnails than doing anything else.

Then there's the really bad news. They've been at this forever. There's no indication these things will be fixed. Comments here date as far back 2021. Between the little grammatical errors sprinkled throughout the site, and the QA section here answered with AI--- they're all just signs the developer has checked out.

Thank you for your honest feedback. We truly appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and concerns. Let me address each point and provide clarity:

1. Video Upload and Embedding Issues
We understand how frustrating it can be when a core feature doesn’t work as expected. Here’s what’s happening:

Video Uploads: Videos without audio tracks are sometimes misidentified as audio files. This is a known bug, and our team is actively working on a fix.
Embedding Issues: If the video isn’t processed correctly, it won’t display in the embeddable player. We’re prioritizing this issue, as it’s critical for many creators like yourself.
Commitment to Resolution: We’re escalating this for immediate attention, and we’ll ensure you’re notified as soon as it’s resolved.
2. Address Input Fields
Our address fields are verified using the Google Maps API, which auto-fills information like City and State to ensure accuracy. These fields are intentionally disabled to prevent manual input errors, which might explain why they seemed unresponsive. We understand this can be confusing at first, and we’ll look at ways to make this process clearer in the future.

3. Strict Image Requirements
We understand that the image requirements (e.g., 1400x1400) may feel restrictive. However:

These standards are set by platforms like Spotify and Apple Podcasts to ensure compatibility during content distribution.
While these requirements make sense for podcasts and music, we recognize the burden for non-distribution use cases, and we’re exploring ways to make them more flexible.
4. Longstanding Concerns and Commitment
We acknowledge that some users have voiced concerns about longstanding bugs or delays. While we’ve made significant progress since our early days, we know there’s more work to do. What’s important to highlight is that:

Disctopia is dedicated to real creatives, and we actively support our community. Those who reach out directly know that we stand behind them, working to resolve issues and deliver improvements.
Your feedback, along with others’, is instrumental in shaping our platform and ensuring it aligns with your needs.
5. Refund Request
If Disctopia doesn’t meet your needs at this time, we completely understand. Here’s how to proceed:

AppSumo Purchases: Refunds can be requested directly through AppSumo if you’re within their refund period.
Direct Purchases: Reach out to us at support@disctopia.com with "Refund Request" in the subject line, and we’ll handle it promptly.
6. Why Stick With Disctopia?
Despite the issues, Disctopia offers a unique opportunity to connect directly with fans through podcasts, music, video hosting, and merch sales. We’re actively working to fix bugs, improve features, and deliver on our promises. Your patience while we make these improvements would mean a lot to us, but we completely respect your decision either way.

Thank you again for your feedback, and please let us know how we can assist further. Whether you stay or decide to refund, we appreciate your time and interest in Disctopia. 😊
