Q: Cloud or on premise?
Is this a cloud based solution or is it something I can run in my environment with no external access? How do you handle security and what are your security protections for environments are strictly locked down?

Jun 2, 2025A: Hi achimon,
Garmingo Status is a cloud based solution, but you can still use it to monitor services running in environments that are not accessible from the public internet.
There are 2 options for monitoring services that are not reachable from the outside:
1. Use of our proxy feature:
Our proxy feature allows you to configure a proxy that is used for connecting to your local network similar to how a VPN works. This way we can monitor your service, even though it would typically not be reachable from the outside.
Requirement for that is setting up a proxy server in your local network and exposing this one to the public (with strong authentication in place of course)
OR (for maximum security)
2. Heartbeat Monitoring:
When you opt for Heartbeat Monitoring our service NEVER connects to your system.
Instead you send a request to our services, in a configured interval - that is the heartbeat.
When we do not receive your heartbeat or you pass additional information about an issue with your request, we know that there is an issue and our system responds to that as usual.
In this scenario we never connect to your services or your network and therefore it does not need to be publicly reachable. You only have to be able to make outgoing connections.
This should allow you to monitor services in your environment with no external access.
Your security question is also partially covered by the previous part of my answer. But a few more words about security:
As a company based in Germany, we already have to follow some of the strictest security and data privacy laws in the world.
On top of that we are devoted to handle security and protection of your data as our top priority.
Access to all our internal services are strictly managed and we work on a zero-trust and least-privileged concept. Each system and user can only access what is absolutely necessary to function/work properly.
In addition to that the data we store about your services is not much and typically not critical, as we only store what is needed for our systems to do their job and provide meaningful insights for you.
If you still want to remove stored data for a monitored service, you can delete it's monitoring history at all time.
I hope I was able to help you further. If you need any more information feel free to ask.
Best regards
