Buggy Platform, Broken Promises, and Nonexistent Support

I purchased Mevo with high expectations as an all-in-one chatbot solution, but unfortunately, my experience has been disappointing. The platform is plagued with bugs, making it nearly impossible to create chatbots without encountering multiple server errors. Additionally, Mevo recently changed the terms of the original deal, removing the ability to use your own OpenAI API key—a feature that was a key selling point for many users. This forces customers to rely solely on Mevo’s token system, which feels restrictive and contrary to the initial promise of flexibility.
To make matters worse, technical support is virtually non-existent. Despite sending five emails over a span of seven days, I received no response, leaving me stranded without assistance. While the concept behind Mevo is promising, the execution and customer service leave much to be desired. I cannot recommend this product in its current state.

Hi Kahlil,

We have been working on AppSumo for 15 months, we have sold hundreds of licenses and this is our first one-taco review on AppSumo. To be honest, as a founder, part of me says we don’t deserve this; however, on the other hand, I put myself in your shoes and understand your frustration.

Please be honest though, I was helping with your problem and even suggested a solution, but it didn’t work, so I need to look into it and develop a real solution. I agree that the solution took more time than average to solve this problem. Maybe we should rethink our communication flow and inform you about our internal process; I can see the point of improvement in this problem. (Actually, this kind of case is the reason why we'll implement a ticketing system in Mevo.)

Also, I can understand that this is not your problem, but the real reason was that there was a national holiday in the country where my teammates live for the whole week, so I was the only one who had to handle all the support duties. As you can see, I try my best, even on Sunday.

Even the most prominent players like Intercom cannot provide short support windows to their customers without a paid support plan. We are trying to do this with a one-time payment plan, and even though there are some things we need to improve, I can’t accept what you call “Non-existent Support”. I solved lots of tickets this week. Unfortunately, people don't come here and say good things when we solve their issues and make them happy. And we only have three tickets to answer currently. One of them is your ticket. And it’s not just a quick answer, it’s an edge case, and it’s not easy to come up with a solution and answer it in a day.

You can talk about bugs – yes, there are bugs – but we are constantly improving the product, adding new features, and fixing bugs based on user feedback. We know Mevo is not a perfect product; we still have a ways to go, and we are working hard, but it is still a fair value proposition for the price you pay. You know and see that as one of the users.

Everyone can see the progress and changes we are making here:
https://mevo.frill.co/announcements

And the roadmap, the features we have implemented, the features we will implement:
https://mevo.frill.co/roadmap

There are also some experimental projects, like a mobile app and live chat, that aren't seen on the public roadmap.

I respect your criticisms of the recent changes. But that doesn’t reduce flexibility. It will allow us to choose the latest LLMs from different providers instead of relying solely on OpenAI, bringing more flexibility to our users. We offered generous compensation, said there would be discounted prices for our early backers, and we will keep our promise, as we have done from the very beginning.

I'll try to solve your issue as soon as possible, and I hope I can convince you to update this review with a good one. Again, I'm sorry for the experience you had, and I'll try my best to prevent something like this from happening again.

16:34 Edit:
The reason for the error you've received is that your OpenAI API key no longer has access to the project it was created for. So our system can't create an AI chatbot on the OpenAI side with the OpenAI API key you provided. You should create a new key and link it to Mevo, or create a new AI chatbot without an OpenAI API key. I've also sent this solution to you via email.
