Q: a couple of questions

I'm impressed with the features—just have a couple of questions:

-It says there's access to 200 million research papers. Does that mean PaperGuide searches through those papers to generate results for me? Can I access the referenced papers to verify the information? Also, do you continuously add new papers?

-I currently have paid subscriptions to both ChatGPT and Perplexity and plan to keep them. How does PaperGuide offer better support for research and academic writing compared to these two tools?

Thank you!

A: Hi Ahmad,

Thanks for your question. Paperguide searches for the 200 million papers based on your prompt relevance, field of study etc. For open access papers where full text can be accessed, it responds based on full text and for papers behind paywall, it uses abstract. Yes, we update the list of papers on a regular basis.

While chatgpt and perplexity are good tools for general research, they typically provide responses more like synthesized summaries and also face challenges with hallucinations and/or using not so reliable sources from the web. Paperguide being fully focused on research domain use cases, sticks to responding based on available information from the research papers and journals/conference proceedings only and also restrict itself to avoid hallucinations. Also, when it comes to writer, its citation management which automatic citations as well as 1-click changes to citation styles is something chatgpt/perplexity can't offer (given the are general purpose tools). Same is the case with literature review and extract data features which are primarily useful in research domain as well as for comparing parameters from multiple documents. They also lack reference management feature which is essential for researcher use cases. You can briefly check paperguide and other research tools comparison along with perplexity

Thank you for the useful info. Do you use Semantic Scholar as your database for academic papers?
