Probably a great tool - but not for me
I bought this tool because I wanted to create my avatar - mainly because I avoid being in front of a camera like it’s a root canal. When I do brave the camera once a year, it’s painful, expensive, and honestly, I’d love to stretch that to every two years if possible.
So, I uploaded 12 photos that really capture me well. The avatar it spit out? Let’s just say there was some resemblance. But here’s the kicker: my short mahogany hair is basically my trademark, and I never wear black. Yet, the AI decided to gift me with flowing long brown locks, a black business suit, and curves that exist only in an alternate universe.
Meanwhile, I tried KREA alongside this, and their results were better, even though I have to pay monthly. So, PhotoGPT is going back. But since today is May 30th, and I’ve developed a serious love for TACOs (yes, TACOs!), I will give you 4 TACOs anyway. Because who can resist TACOs? And it is not the tool's fault that AI isn't that good with women older than 20. I have observed this with many AI tools and as a researcher I started looking into this in more detail.

May 31, 2025Thank you so much for taking the time to share such a detailed and engaging review, we truly appreciate it. We designed PhotoGPT with the intention of giving users a tool that captures facial features with the highest accuracy, while still leaving creative control over elements like hairstyle, body shape, clothing, and environment through prompt customization.
That said, we completely understand your experience and where it fell short. We’re constantly working to improve, and feedback like yours is incredibly valuable in shaping those updates. If you're open to it, feel free to reach out to us at support@photogptai.com - we’d be happy to take a closer look and see if there’s anything we can do to get the output closer to what you envisioned.
