Good but very buggy to be useful in certain cases

Pin Generator is a tool I've been searching for. It has become an essential part of my Pinterest strategy, and I use it almost daily. I particularly appreciate the CSV import functionality (though it could be improved) and Smart shuffle feature.

Unfortunately, the tool is also quite buggy, making it challenging to use in certain scenarios.

Bugs in the Generator:

- if in the CSV file, image2, or image3, or both are empty, some pins will show a broken image; this can be fixed by doing Refresh on the design, which can also break the whole look of the pin.
- when you already have pins in the Generator and you press "Refresh template", the template is updated but all the pins start showing the same image;
- the text color (for both text fields and brand names) can become corrupted after uploading a new CSV file, with no easy or clear fix. I've found two inefficient workarounds: using overwrite, which resets all text to the chosen font, or manually adjusting text colors for each pin—manageable with 10 pins but impractical with larger quantities.

Editing templates in Template Builder is a pure PITA :

- hard to move the text field around;
- the page border is no longer visible (it was showing until about a month ago);
- resizing the elements is unintuitive and hard;
- one can argue that I could use the SVG file import from Canva; well, for that, you need to have a paid version of Canva and you still need to manipulate the text fields after the import;

Pinterest Scheduler for Autopins:

- How the heck can I create AutoPins? This article does not really give the answer: https://pingenerator.com/blog/free-pinterest-scheduling-tool#Step_5_Schedule_your_pins_or_create_AutoPins. In the UI, I see “Add a new repeating pin by hovering over the schedule icon and selecting "Create repeating pin".” - where is the schedule icon? 🤔

I question whether this product is still under active development. These bugs existed when I purchased it in August and remain unfixed today.

Not only has there been no improvement, but some aspects have actually deteriorated.

While one could argue that Oliver, the owner, might be unaware of these issues, I personally find this unlikely given how obvious these bugs are 🤷‍♀️

I wish I could give 3.5 stars, but AppSumo only allows ratings of 3 or 4. I chose 4 because I still find this tool useful for my needs.

Thanks for the review and the suggestions. I do plan to make some enhancements to the csv import.

Some assistance for the issues you experienced:

1. When uploading a csv is the image fields are empty, it should ignore these values. I just ran a test my side and it works that way. It might be something to do with your csv file. Perhaps there is some content in these fields like a space? Can you please send it to me in an email with your account details and I’ll take a look?

2. The images changing to the same image is not normal. There might be an edge case I have missed in the way that your design settings are set up. Could you please save your design settings to a new brand settings section called “Test for Oliver” and I can try to replicate the issue there. Let me know the steps I need to follow to reproduce in the same email.

3. This might be happening if you have the “fix low contrast text” setting on. This will automatically change the text colors so that they are visible on their background. Try turning that off.

Thanks for the suggestions regarding the design system. I’ll look into implementing them.

Here is a tutorial on how you can create AutoPins:

I hope this extra info helps.

Kind regards,
Ollie
