Q: Clarification questions
I posted a question a few days ago but it disappeared. I have some questions that I need clarification on.
Commission plans: there are different amounts for different tiers. Can you explain further? Does this mean something like one plan gives 10% affiliate commission, another 5%, etc?
Affiliate Programs: same as commission plans--what are different affiliate programs considered??
I'd be using this in a non-traditional affiliate sense, so I want to see if it will work. I have an event site where I want event owners to be able to sell tickets through my site. So if I set that up where the sale is made through my platform and my merchant account (Stripe,Paypal), can I pay the event owners "commission" for the ticket sales (although technically I'd be taking the commission and paying the listing owner the majority)? Hope that makes sense.

Commission plans are basically rules for how commission is given in a scenario (so you can use it to set up complex rules like to only give commission after a certain order amount, or to set up a commission rate for a period of time and then drop it down to another rate after a period of time). Also a commission plan can be assigned to an affiliate individually so it helps you set up different commission scenarios for different affiliates. On tier 1 and 2 we limit how many commission plans you can have in a single affiliate program.
Affiliate programs are not the same as commission plans, they are different, affiliate program is an affiliate program (it's expected that one company will have one affiliate program generally), so we allow creation of multiple affiliate programs for people who have multiple brands they want to create an affiliate program for or people who run an agency.
We do offer tracking through Stripe at the moment, but it has to be using one of the methods:
- Stripe sessions API
- Stripe Payment Links
- Stripe payment buttons
