Solid Product. Just need more clarification
This seems to be a great tool for automating bank statement processing. I like how quickly and accurately it converts your statements + transaction categorization and efficient vendor management. The dashboard is simple / user-friendly and overall this tool does not require much setup. You can start using it immediately.
I do have a few concerns that I hope you can address:
1. Bank Statement Upload Limits on AppSumo Plans: I noticed that while the number of invoices allowed per plan is specified, the limits for bank statement uploads are not as clear. I would appreciate clarification on how this applies to the specific plans offered through AppSumo, as this will help me determine the most suitable plan for my needs.
2. Data Privacy and Security Details: I have reviewed your Privacy Policy but seek further clarification on the following points:
a. Data Hosting Location: Where is user data physically stored? Understanding the hosting location is crucial for assessing compliance with data protection regulations.
b. AI Models and Third-Party Services: What specific AI models are utilized to process OUR financial data? Are any third-party services involved in this processing, and if so, which ones? This information is important to evaluate the security and confidentiality of sensitive financial data.
c. Data Retention and Deletion: Post-processing, are the original copies of bank statements and invoices retained or deleted? Could you provide more specifics on the retention period and deletion process for these documents?
I am keen on upgrading my subscription + willing to update my review to a 5 star rating if they can clarify my concerns.
Overall, this is a solid product thus far, and I'd like to upgrade my tier, but need more clarification on the plans and privacy.

Apr 3, 2025Thank you for your honest feedback and valid concerns regarding data security.
I am happy to provide more details about how we approach this matter. Please refer to the bottom of this response for explanations regarding our tiers.
We have one of the most transparent and user-friendly privacy policies, which is easily accessible on our website. I believe this is a positive start in demonstrating our goodwill.
As an EU-based company, we built Smart Clerk with privacy concerns in mind from day one, and this is something we take pride in.
Now, let me address your specific questions:
2a. We primarily store our data on servers in the US, but some of our providers also utilize EU servers. There are no other locations involved. I agree that we need to include additional details about this in our privacy policy, and we will do so promptly.
2b. We do use third-party partners to provide our services, and we clearly outline our relationship with them in our privacy policy. However, we do not publicly disclose the identities of all our vendors as this is part of our security policy.
2c. The original files are stored for a maximum of one year after the data is extracted, and they are used solely for debugging purposes. Users can request to delete all stored data if they decide to close their accounts.
We are adding some tips to our dashboard today, and it is appropriate to include this information in our privacy policy.
Once again, I greatly appreciate your feedback, which will prompt us to update our privacy policy for greater transparency.
Regarding tier limits, you can process statements from 2024 onward with Smart Clerk subscriptions. If you have a substantial amount of historical data that you would like to process, that is possible as well, but it will incur a small one-time fee. Please contact us if you have such a requirement.
We spoke with AppSumo today, and we will amend the deal terms for greater clarity regarding document upload limits.
I hope this response addresses your concerns. If you have further questions or need more detailed information, please feel free to reach out to me directly.
