Q: New Youtuber Questions

I noticed Subscribr keyword search doesn't show the monthly searches for particular keywords that it suggests.

I considered that to be a drawback initially. However, after considering it further, I was thinking; perhaps a better strategy would be to focus on quality content (and scripts) and identifying popular videos for ideas to model from is surely a more reliable strategy. Is that correct? Are keyword tools overrated?

A: You nailed it Ben! That is exactly my philosophy.

Rather than focusing on keywords, I believe it's better to focus on researching video formats that work (by analyzing other channels using Ideation Chat) and then applying that to your own videos. That's what I built the "Outlier Remixing" prompts in Ideation Chat's Prompt Library.

I know many high level YouTube strategists that work on 1M+ subscriber channels, and not a single one looks at keyword popularity. The focus only on packaging and what is working well for others on YouTube.

By the way, did you know there are no official keyword search stats in the YouTube API? The numbers that VidIQ and other tools give are all estimated based on statistical analysis from people who use their browser plugins. So the data is skewed and there is no certainty it's accurate. The only things you can trust are the view counts on the videos.
