Lots of Potential
Here's my completely bias review. Please note we are Basecamp lovers! We've been looking for a possible alternative for years but we've had no luck. We keep trying and each alternative disappoints us. Mainly because our clients don't like using them. They keep telling us that Basecamp is the simplest and best solution for THEM! Remember that most clients are not as tech savvy as Sumolings!
Things I like:
- The ability to have a branded portal
- The UI/UX is far better than other client portals such as SuiteDash
- The custom branding for each client is awesome
- The ability to have tier 3 with unlimited projects and team members
- It's fairly simple to get a "project" going
- Having custom links front and center for the client is awesome
- The custom freeform document with ability to create Q & A is a game changer (***however I still have to figure out how to use it with my clients properly. I feel like I'm missing something***)
- Reusable blocks are a cool feature but how the heck do I put them into a new project????
Things that need improvement from our perspective:
- Overall it's simple to use but could be simpler. Basecamp is dummy proof.
- The embed feature is not that easy. I tried embedding a few things that aren't on the list and I keep getting error messages.
- Is there a way to communicate with clients? If so, I can't find it?
- No native mobile app (this is a MUST!). No app....No go for us!
- The overall complexity could confuse users if they keep adding features (more features are great but please ensure they're easy to figure out)
- The folder structure that Basecamp has is far more intuitive. This is not just our feedback but the feedback from our clients as well. You can tell that SuperOkay has taken the approach of a similar layout but it's still not quite that nice as Basecamp.
- I don't need a notification for every little change to a document. I can't figure out how to turn this off.
Suggestions:
- Integrate with Nimbus (Those guys are awesome)
- Keep advancing freeforms function with tables, Q & A blocks where clients can input information and it can be saved. This is a gold mine! No one does this properly in the market and could be a game-changer.
- Use a folder system for projects rather than tabs/menu on the side. It's more intuitive.
- Create a discussion forum and individual communication feature for team members and clients if this doesn't exist already
- Get integrated with more apps for the embed feature. If it works properly, it's a GOLD MINE!
Overall SuperOkay has massive potential. I really hope that they stay on the path of keep things user friendly client collaboration tool rather than being a SuiteDash. Nothing against SuiteDash but it's way too complex and our clients don't like to use it.
I can see us using this as our main client portal and plugging in other solutions.
There's a reason why Basecamp is the GOLD STANDARD. SuperOkay could catch up and maybe even surpass them. Good luck guys/gals!!!
