Heavyweight Coaching but Lightweight Teaching
I have had the time to dig into this tool over the last 24 hours and I think they hit on a lot of points but miss the Sumoling sweet spot in others. I will talk about what I personally liked about the tool. I like that it was different and if you follow me then you know I like unicorn tools. This tool is different in a lot of ways and that is good and bad. Let's clear up a few things first. This is not a Kajabi, Teachable, or any other major LMS replacement. Those tools are very big and can do a lot of things well. I would call this a mix between a good HeartBeat community with the LMS setup and a Thrive Themes builder using Apprentince without the Quizbuilder portion add on. Does that mean it is bad? No. Does that mean it can go head to head with the big boys? No. It is good at what it does and that is to run small onboarding sessions or small co-horts with teams of 5-10. I have so many large LMS systems that I think UpCoach brings a fresh new perspective to Coaching. This really truly a Coaching tool and fails in comparision to true teaching academies. It does not have gamification nor does it have certificates of completion. I give it a two thumbs up for coaching because you can put together some really good coaching programs using this tool. A one week course, coaching students on the same concepts over that same period can be a nice addition to your tech stack or coaching practice. I did a quick video showcasing some of the things I liked in the tool https://youtu.be/OnqGt-0iiQ4
PROS:
+ Very well thought out from a coaching perspective
+ Has a workflow built in
+ Unlimited Programs
+ HTML Embed block was surprisingly nice
+ Training and Support
+/- custom domain (but you lose this value because of the powered by)
CONS:
- "Powered by UpCoach": is not needed for this Appsumo deal and should have an option to turn off. This may cost this great team some deals as Sumolings do not want everyone knowing the tools they use.
- Only one language
- No Payment gateway
- No Sales landing page
- Super light on integrations
- No true CRM to harvest past students/clients
- No Gamification (For a coaching program this is needed to encourage and motivate your peeps)
Good luck to the team but if you listen to sumolings you will more than make your money here.
