Q: Is it possible to disable the link to webability.io when clicking the accessibility icon on my website?
I installed Webability on my site using the AppSumo deal. While the widget functions well, I’d prefer the accessibility icon not to redirect users to the WebAbility homepage when clicked. Instead, I’d like the interaction to remain entirely within my site for a more seamless user experience and to avoid confusing visitors.
A: Thanks for reaching out, and we're glad to hear the widget is functioning well on your site. Yes, it's absolutely possible to prevent the accessibility icon from redirecting to the WebAbility homepage. You can do so from customization section on the WebAbility dashboard. If you need help implementing this or run into any issues, feel free to let us know-we're here to help!
The problem is with the widget icon, not the logo or link. When the widget is installed on a website, hovering over the accessibility icon shows it's linked to www.webability.io. Clicking the icon not only opens the accessibility tools but also triggers a new browser tab to open with the WebAbility homepage. This creates a confusing experience! Can you check if this is a glitch?
Q: Hetzner Servers located in Germany possible?
Would you also consider to move (or extend) your Hetzner hosting to German Hetzner datacenters for European customers?
As the servers that Hetzner offers in Canada are based in the US - as you can see in the official table here: https://docs.hetzner.com/cloud/general/locations
US Servers a not ideal for us here in Europe/Germany, as it's an unsafe third party country according to the DSGVO / GDPR.
Thank you so much in advance for your great work and product! And greetings from Germany!
Thanks so much for your message and your kind words - we really appreciate the support from Germany!
You're absolutely right about GDPR concerns. That's why we've set up our infrastructure to use Hetzner's German data centers by default, especially since most of our customers are based in the EU.
So yes, our hosting is fully GDPR-compliant, and your data stays within the EU.
I tested it and it seems really good. Just one question: the voice navigation — I noticed that numbers are only recognized in English, not in Italian. Do you plan to bring this functionality to Italian as well?
A: Thanks so much for testing it out - really glad to hear you think it's good!
Great question about the voice navigation. At the moment voice recognition is currently being optimized for only English, but expanding full voice support (including numbers) to Italian is definitely on our roadmap. We're actively gathering feedback like yours to help prioritize language improvements.
I feel like your tool is mature and cool, but still in need of polishing UX wise and functionality (The plugin doesn't stop the spinning animation on your own website), so can you tell us more about your team, your location, you server placement (for GDPR) etc. to encourage trust?
A: Thank you for your feedback! We're thrilled you find WebAbility useful.

This made me feel ready to commit. Thank you for your answer! ☺️
One thing I’d love to share is that I really wish the interface could have an option for making it look more “sleek” and match my website vibe. Right now it clashes a bit with my more soft, pastel coloured elegance focused website.
That’s wonderful to hear—thank you so much for the kind words and your support!
And we really appreciate the design feedback. If you have any examples or preferences you'd love to see, feel free to share- we'd love to incorporate your vision as we improve the design options. Just shoot us an email at support@webability.io for the ideas
Q: Is this product any different to existing accessibility overlay products and the known huge problems/liability?
I am curious if your tool is any different to existing accessibility overlay products (including SaaS options) on the market. As in, does it operate the same way and pose the same legal risks for customers and accessibility problems for users.
The problem is that these have been wholesale rejected by the disability and accessibility community. They often interfere with screenreaders and built-in accessibility features, actually making websites *less* accessible, while not fixing more fundamental issues that can't be resolved with a widget.
For your reference (and that of anyone else reading), you can google "should I use an accessibility overlay" for an overview. A lot also shows up if you google "accessibility overlay lawsuit".
A: Thank you for raising such an important concern. You're absolutely right—many accessibility overlay products have been criticized by the disability and accessibility community for interfering with screen readers, masking deeper accessibility issues, and offering a false sense of compliance.
