I’ve been following the progress of Read Wonders for a few years, and I can’t recommend it enough.

Unlike general ChatGPT, Read Wonders is trained on academic insight. In my free time, I try to write about digital sustainability and ethics, but often hit the wall when I face my own knowledge gaps. It’s not surprising at all that Read Wonders can support my needs and helps me diverge initially around directions and topics for my writing, and supports my personal development. I used to aimlessly search for related concepts or relevant approaches to what I’m writing about, and Read Wonders provides a summary from the get-go!

In terms of integrity, I personally like it that Read Wonders doesn’t try to chew everything out for you but opens alternative paths to move forward. This helps to preserve control over your own critical thinking while getting a slight nudge where to move forward.

My only wish is for Read Wonders to be more mobile-friendly. As a toddler mom and full-time worker, I’m mostly thinking and writing on-the-go and need to have an optimal experience on mobile device.

As a PhD student who works full time, Wonders has been absolutely amazing in the amount of time it has saved me on researching sources for a paper so I can spend more time on writing and less time digging.
The summaries the tool provides on peer-reviewed papers has really helped me sift through the best sources much more efficiently than simply skimming the abstract, as I can be very specific in the prompts I write.
Not only has this tool saved me time, it has made the overall research process much more efficient and robust, as the series of prompts assist in forming the direction I’d like to go on a research topic and they also help me identify areas that are under-researched, so I know my study will better contribute to the body of knowledge on a subject.

The final output can feel a bit limited given the vast number of resources and data it extracted from. It would be great to also have the option to generate an outline for a research, report, or blog. Or maybe even a full draft to act as our starting point? Again, this is since the data was already gathered - why not move forward with it, right? 😊
